It secured its Environmental Authorisation on 27 October 2025, and JSE-listed property giant Growthpoint Properties has come on board as development partner, with construction expected to start later in 2026 and the first phase opening targeted for 2028. It has also been granted Strategic Integrated Project (SIP 17) status, meaning government is obliged to prioritise its approvals, and is projected to create around 35,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction. What the property numbers say

The growth shows up clearly in the data. Western Cape house prices rose 6.5% year-on-year in 2024, well ahead of the 3.9% national average, according to Lightstone. Within the Northern Suburbs:

• Freehold homes in established suburbs like Bellville and Parow grew by roughly 80% between 2019 and 2024, driven by semigration, infrastructure and affordability.
